Holy Zarine Alexandre, the wife of Emperor Diokletian, who went down in history as one of the most rigorous persecutors of Christians, was a covert Christian. She witnessed great martyr George being subjected to horrible tortures, strength of his faith, wonders made by him.

By the example of St. George she as well dared to witness frankly her faith in Jesus Christ. The empress went to the place of St. George torments, fell down to his feet and proclaimed herself Christian. Diokletian sentenced his wife to death.

She is commemorated on April 23.
